Zimkhitha Gova
Zimkhitha Gova is a systems strategist and governance-focused leader advancing women’s financial inclusion and economic participation across Africa. She is the Founder and Executive Chairperson of the Africa Women Financial Inclusion Initiative (AWFII), a public benefit organisation committed to transitioning women from financial access to strategic ownership, asset accumulation, governance participation, and intergenerational wealth creation.
Notable Work and Background
Under her leadership, AWFII has secured key strategic partnerships that strengthen its institutional footprint within the financial inclusion ecosystem. This includes a formal partnership with the Graça Machel Trust to implement its flagship programme, New Faces New Voices (NFNV) South Africa, where she serves as Country Head. She also secured a strategic partnership with EasyEquities to support AWFII’s integrated membership model, expanding women’s access to investment education and practical tools for capital market participation.
Zimkhitha’s work spans financial literacy, credit and capital access, governance readiness, policy dialogue, and ecosystem collaboration. Her leadership philosophy is grounded in systems reform, ethical governance, and measurable impact, with a clear focus on building sustainable pathways to ownership for women across income levels.
AWFII is currently awaiting approval of its Section 18A status, reflecting its ongoing commitment to compliance, transparency, and public benefit accountability.
She is the author of the forthcoming book Crowning Her With Power, which advances a bold framework for moving women from financial inclusion to ownership, with a focus on credit architecture, capital participation, and governance representation.
Zimkhitha is pursuing advanced executive management training to further strengthen AWFII’s institutional sustainability, governance frameworks, and operational excellence.
